Untypical design solutions for a minimalistic urban apartment in Vilnius. This modern loft interior is created by IDAS studio and reflects its inhabitants cheerful, modern and young character. Some intriguing design compositions need to be noted, but the first strong impression comes from the usage of accent color classic blue – which in turn gives the name of the project.
Used in art décor details, throw in cushions, and manly on the loft ceiling, the classic blue is reminiscent of the deep- blue summer sky. This trendy color (actually a color of the year according to Pantone 2020) gives a fresh focal accent to the mainly black and white color entwinement of the color’s design. This color contrast of primary colors is another trendy and contemporary design choice.
The entrance level features a minimalist white kitchen corner – with a long kitchen island -bar perfect for friends’ gatherings, and a soft sitting area. Admittedly one notices first the Pig Table by Moooi, which gives a whimsical touch to the otherwise elegant and minimal furniture arrangement. Another unusual design solution of the creative design team, on this level, is the heavy curtain separation of the bathroom premises.
The light gray textural element in the open – floor plan gives softness and flexibility to the overall arrangement. The same curtains repeat as a textural accent on the windows, and in the second level as a bed headboard, they even play a separation role within the bathroom itself. We find the playful experimentation with shapes, colors, furniture details, and design elements very refreshing.
A trendy black, mash-metal staircase leads to the second level of the loft where the private areas – bed platform- resigns. Overall the small urban apartment’s dosing is simple, clean, and utilitarian with strong artistic and color accents. Photos: Simonas Linkevičius;
