Elegant urban jewel sustained with contemporary stylistic, pastel colors, luxurious materials, and sculptural shapes of craft design elements. Renovating this cute apartment in the El Raval neighborhood, in Barcelona, Spain the designers from CULTO Interior Design opted for an open, luminous, modern, and flexible living space.
Traditional walls are substituted with curtains, the fluid connections between premises are bathed by abundant natural light from the multiple windows and the traditional elements from the Catalan architecture are underlined by precious materials selection- marble, terracotta, terrazzo, and reddish wood. The versatile space connects in an open floor plan, the kitchen, dining, and living room premises, the last of which can transform into a cozy guest bedroom after pulling the curtain and flipping the sofa bed.
We love the pure and elegant stylistic of the kitchen and dining corner – a clear shaped marble kitchen counter serves a double function – a kitchen island for food preparation and a modern ding space for dinner parties. The sober and elegant olive green kitchen cabinetry (a customized design by the architects) completes the functional and stylish agreement for small urban apartments.
The designers choose minimum but high-quality furniture elements for the small and stylish apartment, thus leaving enough space for the owners’ art collection to develop. Quite an impression make the chairs by GTV Thonet Viena- adding their plastic shapes to the stylish décor composition – a technique of a steamed bent single piece of wood. The modernistic forms in the living room are the Bongos by Meridiani, and the Jamaica stool by Pepe Cortésm is an edited version by BD Barcelona Design. Photo: Elton Rocha;
