We have always been big fans of the organic and stylishly applied use of concrete. It is such a diverse material – it can be utilitarian, urban-industrial, but also elegant and organic. In this impressive apartment building project in Mexico City carried out by Studio Rick Joy, in collaboration with FRB Arquitectos, the concrete bones of the complex building give elegant and strongly nature-inspired character to the project.
The sculptural facade of a townhouse – style features concrete in all its glory and variety and provides the building with an appearance of carved urban sculpture. Multiple intriguing angles, terraces, and courtyards host two duplex residences clad in the warm organic of wood – resembling planks of concrete, entwined with timber wood, glass, and trendy metal. Incorporating nature into even the most urban forms, a signature touch for the designers, calls for an abundance of vines, plants, and natural materials, and this inspired search of organic creates utterly stylish and modern ambiance.
Minimal but very elegant, even luxurious furnishing is combined with expressive, decorative details, and precious materials (the shimmering sparkle of brass accents and decorations, gives a jazzy and trendy touch to the decor composition of the apartments). Purity, clear lines, and organic materials, in modern and elegant combinations, create very expressive urban ambiance.
The attention toward the smallest detail that is also characteristic for the work of the design studio gives a unique personality to the sleek modern decor. Brass railing for the staircase, build-inn furniture structures, beautiful concrete pots incorporated into the walls and hosting cascades of plants, intriguing shapes for the roof terraces’ walls, and many other details created with love and style are just some of the hallmarks of this amazing, modern apartment complex.
Rich textural variety comes not only from the entwinement of concrete, copper, glass, and wood but also by the textile additions chosen by the designers. Red carpets, upholstery, linen textures, and many more form a cozy and stylish environment to live in. The design team chose to work with local manufactures and artisans for the furniture and decorative selection, adoring the premises and that, undoubtedly introduces an added value to this amazing modern decor project.
