A small and stylish bachelor’s pad in Bucharest offers a remarkable, international inspiration. It carries the Scandinavian and Italian design purity in its modern decor stylistics, but the core is inspired by the Japanese Wabi-Sabi philosophy of searching beauty in imperfection. Minimalism and soft industrialism complete the designer’s inspirational searches.
With the very suiting name, earth gray comes this small urban apartment project from the renowned Romanian designer Bogdan Ciocodeica. It is truly Earthly – with the pure lines and organic materials, with the beautiful ceramic decorations and the soft textures and tonalities. And it is truly Gray – in the sense of trendy and elegant variations of gray nuances defining the color palette.
The space is small, so clever design insertions and inventive approaches were applied. The open floor plan exposition of the kitchen, dining, and living room areas is dominated by clear lines, monochrome color tonalities, and elegant silhouettes. The simplistic and monolith black kitchen block is complemented by a mirrored wall, which extends the visual perspective of the place. The sitting arrangement hosts only the necessary furnishing but with utterly stylish silhouettes and textures.
An Intriguing design choice is the black ceiling giving visual dynamic to the space, and of course, the beautiful ceramic objects collection decorating the trendy and custom made wall shelf from fashionable, thin metal frames and minimal wooden surfaces. Splashed like an ink stain in the center of the space, a rug with an untreated wooden slab gives a playful wink to the vernacular design combining, retro, urban, and organic stylistics into dynamic interior décor configuration.
The master bedroom follows the simplistic, almost minimal approach of the decor inspiration and offers soft and warm refuge in minimal colors, clear lines, and inviting textures. The designer has an affinity to trendy and elegant lighting solutions, which here are used to punctuate and underline the different functions of the premise. We love the symbiosis of earthly inspirations (including the soft tonalities of the color palette and the ceramic collection) and the dynamic urban touch of the decor arrangement.
