This tiny micro apartment in Taipei, Taiwan was turned into a cozy contemporary jewel of built-in, space-saving furniture constructs and clever design solutions with clean and stylish emanation by the Taiwanese studio A Little Design.
The problem with dense urban living and small apartments is quite significant in big cities (especially in Asia and Europe) so modern designers except the challenge of micro functionality with a bold and creative dash. Let’s explore the solutions offered by this organic ambiance.
Using generous organic materials palate – oak and concrete in combination with metro-tiles and prevailing white and gray surfaces the design team created a clean and luminous environment for the small former piano studio space – measuring just 17.6 square meters.
Exploring the height of the original space and removing unfelicitous obstacles – like ceiling beams and relatively big bathroom but tiny kitchen areas- the designers, utilize the height for storage compartments and platform bed and ensured enough functional space for the kitchen, working and leisure areas. Exchanging places of kitchen and bathroom and locating the sleeping area on the mezzanine level where a tabletop and drawer are inserted under the beam Wang, and her team achieved quite a functional redistribution of space.
The colors and materials selection gives such a clean and fresh ambiance that the small space is tidy and cozy ant the same time. The base of white and different shades of gray gives a wonderful backdrop for the wooden structures, furniture and custom made elements to stand out. And look at this generous bathtub with its white brick-like platform – elegant and stylish.
