Simple an elegant with pure and contemporary feel, this Californian residence for a well-traveled client, combines the eclectic furniture and art collections of the owner and the purity of Eastern-inspired stylistic. Californian designer Teresa Xu collaborated with Kevin Lee Yi for the creation of this beautiful modern project and using custom-made structures and elevated wooden platforms the designers enhanced the luminous purity and the clean feel of the wooden cladding, composing a space that carries the Zen stylistic of the East.
This search for unconventional contemporary expression is very strong in the master bedroom, where Japanese – inspired bed platform extends into a cozy reading and relaxation space in front of the large panoramic window. Other layers of the gorgeous white oak cladding and custom-made structures (like the wall bench in one of the guest bedrooms, or the simple lines of the staircase connecting the floors of the house) adorn the premises.
Using the white walls not only to enhance the luminous feel of the interior composition but also as a canvas for the expressive and minimalist paintings by contemporary artist Richard Vergez the designers composed a space that comfortably accommodates the owner’s eclectic furniture collection. On the ground floor, an open-plan kitchen merges with the soft sitting area, and its retro inspired furniture and decorative pieces, and its warm dove gray hues.
Light grey custom made TV wall lined with concrete panels includes an electric fireplace, introducing modern read for the cozy arrangement. The kitchen corner offers multiple trendy elements from the expressive white kitchen island structure outlined with modern black accents to the glass and black steel frame separation structure behind the sink. Other trendy and art accents come from the expressive design lamps and lighting installations used throughout the home’s interior decor composition.
