Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec have created Losanges – a limited series of unique vases rendered in enameled ceramic. The large vases range in height and are featured in two colors, a dark moss-like green and a mottled baby blue. Losanges will debut at the 2017 edition of Design Miami for Paris and London-based Galerie Kreo.

The collection recalls the vase object as one of Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec’s favorite territories of formal and material research. Since their first combinatory vases in 1997, the pair has released several collections including the Ruutu collection for Iittala in 2014 and the cloud vases in 2015.

Each of the vases is unique, combining the regularity of a generic form, of its angles and bevels, with the organic variety of craft production. Depending on your vision and distance from the object, each one reflects light differently. The vases have been designed to create what the designers call the sfumato effect, a soft, vague or blurred quality known as one of the four canonical painting modes of renaissance art.
