This project of YCL Studio, located in Palanga, Lithuania drew its artistic inspiration from four natural elements – sand, water, pine trees and clouds to reminiscent the beautiful landscape of Faroe Islands archipelago in the Norwegian Sea. The home possesses the fresh spirit and clear lined beauty of contemporary northern design entwined with unexpected artistic solutions and stylish materials palette.
The main living premises are spacious and sunny (thanks to the vast panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows that frame one of the walls and connect the premises with the wooden deck terrace) and they possess the easy-going spirit of a holiday home. The clouds are reflected in the white, and light surfaces that compose the premise, the blue accents (mainly the trendy spacious sofa, but also small details like the glass bird sculpture by Tróndur Patursson – painter, sculptor, glass artist and adventurer) are embodying the spirit of the water.
The sand is visible in the ash three cladding that goes throughout the premises and with its warm and sunny texture brings the desert wind in. And it echoes through the artistic wall panel made of layers of wood and light. The furnishing and the lighting solutions are trendy and modern, entwining characteristic colors, shapes, and textures the design remains fresh and with slight Scandinavian inclination.
