The architect Andreas Martin-Löf Arkitekter had small steep hillside plot to deal with in addition to the original construct that had gone under reconstruction – but the final result is not only light and elegantly looking retreat but also a dwelling sustained in the best traditions of Scandinavian simplicity, high quality of living premises and contemporary freshness of design.
The extensive usage of beautiful light wood and natural materials, the unostentatious two-storey architectural construct that had been placed so to not disturb the natural landscape and views, the hand made and sustainability sensible fittings of the house – all speaks of love and devotion towards not only the house project but to its surrounding and natural predispositions.
Combining glass, steel, timber and concrete constructs as well as material palette that is kept raw and relatively simple and it varies from plywood walls and ‘Nero Marquina’ marble to details in polished brass the architect archives one truly elegant and stylish but not pretentious outlook for the house. Locally sourced and prepared building elements including the handmade windows and doors, the plywood cladding and the beautiful wooden bookshelf in the living room add charm and cool expression of sustainability. The terrace wrapped around the house and the panoramic windows offer not only magnificent views towards the surrounding hills and forests but provide abundance of natural daylight that is cleverly reflected by the light material and color palette of the interior decor. Swimming in the crystal waters of the infinity pool is probably a divine experience when surrounded by untouched Scandinavian nature!
