This modern apartment located in Kiev, Ukraine and designed by Olga Akulova has its own strongly dynamic urban presence. Thanks to the row concrete constructs, an unusual layout of functional zones and the contemporary artistic spirit reflected in the unique brass elements the designer has successfully composed a memorable interior decor.
The main living space of this 30th-floor penthouse apartment consist in one open continuous premise were the different functional zones are designated by bare concrete slabs, glass cabinetry or beautiful wooden constructs. The exposed piping and the row concrete with their urban expression are mellowed by the light wood strongly presented in the construction of essential furniture and fittings, by the lively splashes of fresh green plants or by the artistic brass and copper lighting and furnishing solutions – which, by the way, are so hot and trendy lately!
Artistic and intriguing designer’s pieces spread throughout the apartment: like the multi-legged kitchen table, or the origami shaped copper chairs, or the super comfortable and simple-lined sofas in the living zone bring unique, cozy and, at the same time, whimsical spirit into the apartment, composing in this way a space where enjoyment and relaxation can coexist naturally. The line of stylishly arranged living premises – kitchen, living room, library – working desk and the second row of unusual closed spaces, and minimalistic furnished white bedroom create a dynamic contact between the different modules.
The material palette combines the never-dying and elegant composition of wood (present also in unusual choices –like a bathtub), row concrete (the solid foundation of walls, ceiling and floors) and of course the glamor bringing brass and copper supplements. Thoughtful details like contemporary functionalism of the bathroom, or the green wall there, or the simple elegance of the improvised reading corner, bring freshness to the decor and show the love and devotion that composed the space.
