This project, carried by Think Forward design studio, is composed for a young, modern family with a sentiment towards the romantic spirit of Paris and the old architecture of their home town on the sea coast of Bulgaria – Burgas.
Buying the apartment next door offers the owners and the designers the possibility to “spread their wings” figuratively speaking, and to create a living premise that is spacious, full with light and ready to be fulfilled with new life memories. Uniting the two apartments through a long functional corridor and the bathrooms and wet facilities in one comfortable bathroom the designers free a space for one spacious, open premise that contains the living quarters- kitchen, dining, living zone and a resting corner with a library to enjoy and additionally freeing space for two bedrooms.
The architectural and design approach for the apartment consist of dynamic collision between contemporary minimalistic and a nostalgic reference to the architecture of the early 20th century- with its beautiful wooden work of window framing, ceiling and floors and- as cherry on top the designers’ touch – four reconstructed vintage armchairs. The central focal point of the living premise becomes the old chimney, transformed into a decorative fireplace and the four supporting columns that are left from the old space arrangement and visually define the living zones. The crisp whiteness of the color base fits perfectly with the graphic elements of the contemporary furnishing composed by designers’ pieces from BoConcept, Wolfram and Think Forward and the elegant simplicity of the overall minimalism of the apartment. The wooden cladding, veneer and parquet combined with the stylish retro pieces of furniture bring certain comfort and warmth into the home and when this is artistically juxtaposed to the more robust shapes and minimalistic details, becomes a winning combination for sure.
