The brand was born in 2012 by the intuition of Pietro Bettanin, a third generation of the Italian tannery Scamosceria Astico, a Company founded in 1951 specialized in leather treatment for furniture, footwear and automotive. A family passion that has always been identified with a strong technological innovation and experimentation as to make it an international expression of high-quality Italian style.
The Lapelle collections represent a brand new product configuration for technology and ease of installation. An infinite palette of colors, textures and mood to dress up spaces in a crescendo of creativity at complete disposal of architects and designers. This to create environments of rare beauty, an aesthetic-sensory story that reaches the strings of taste, touch, and attraction towards a naturally beautiful material.
Lapelle tiles are made on bovine, or full-grain buffalo finished leather saddled in the mold on a polyurethane structure with medium density, which makes Lapelle leather tiles also suitable in wet areas such as bathrooms. The saddling does not use neither glues nor solvent resins. The leather is treated to be waterproof and stain-proof. Lapelle leather tiles also have sound-absorbency properties.
Thanks to extremely innovative finishing processes, the leather takes on aesthetic effects (grain and color) and touch (hand, softness, and texture) with a very high value.
Scamosceria Astico follows an environmental policy, that starts from the selection of the raw material, chosen according to criteria of sustainability and expressed by a production system that exceeds the most stringent standards of the European Community to protect the environment. The company also is equipped with a photovoltaic system that makes it almost completely autonomous from the point of view of energy.
The quality of the finished product is also verified by the most qualified European organizations, such as the Satra Technology Center (of which Scamosceria Astico is a member since 2002) that has tested the products according to the standards of EN, BS and UNI.
