Family Home for a Young Couple

0

This modern semi-detached house by Henkin Shavit Architecture & Design, is planned as a family home for a young couple from a coastal kibbutz, so in a way becomes an extension of the kibbutz. Consequently, one of the main requirements of the brief was the spaciousness and open communal areas where the family can host their friends. The final result of this architectural project is contemporary, spacious and full of light home, where natural materials, design elements and furniture from the best design brands unravel a space suitable for dynamic lifestyle and enjoyment.

The first floor hosts spacious kitchen and living areas, which have direct access to the garden, as well as guest accommodation unit, office, guest bathroom and utility room. The interior design of the whole house is decided in mellow natural colors (gray, pale blue, white and exposed wood) with contemporary furnishing solutions and wide range of textures from shiny to matt and from smooth to the raw.

The contemporary art pieces scattered throughout the house are supplemented by distinctive furnishing “art pieces” from well renowned designers and collections – like the gray “Pony” from the Finish designer Eero Aarnio that becomes, with its simple geometrical forms, a central focal point of one very arty space.
The interior solutions are a mixture of classic charm (like the slope ceiling covered with white oak boards, or the stylish mosaic of the bathrooms, or the beautiful oak wood furniture and construction elements – stairs, kitchen island and cabinets all around the house.) and the dynamic presence of contemporary shapes – here and there, like an exotic spice on a dish. The open sunny spaces, the clean presence of natural wood and the quite color tonality creates one very inviting and calm space to inhibit.  Photographs: Yoav Gurin
