The W Hotels open their first ski retreat hotel in Verbier and staying true to their bold, modern approach to design brought a New York-style edge to this upscale Swiss resort. The project is ideally located near the snowy ski slopes and offers a great fusion between original chalet-style building with traditional facade and highly contemporary style and identity. The hotel offers 123 guestrooms, including one extreme wow suite, 15 spectacular residences and each one of them deserves special attention when it comes to eclectic design – combining modern interior with sleek furniture and distinctive rustic note felt in the use of natural materials and fabrics. The same contrast and impeccable fusion of styles can be found all around the premises; seating areas of carved wooden blocks set against synthetics and contemporary fabrics, local craft stone cladding walls and welcome desks that are illuminated by designer’s lamps.
Actually the lighting solutions throughout the hotel deserve special attention; all the lamps are designer art craft that is corresponding perfectly with the stylish atmosphere of the space- regardless of the concrete material choice- some are made from fashionable cooper, some are textiles, some are hanging from climbing ropes -but all of them bring irreplaceable dynamic in the space. At the restaurant the joined leather seating solution is illuminated by cooper hanging lights, which is corresponding nicely with the glass utensils decorating the wall construction.
The hotel’s prime meeting place is the lobby and it catches you immediately with its colorful features, with its abundance of metal, stone and wood craft’s works and its flexible curved architecture. Spacious veranda and balcony, covered with a glass atrium, are surrounding the hotel and bringing the incredible snowy mountain view at your disposal. Entering the rooms you don’t live this artistic, colorful atmosphere behind because each room is designed to satisfy the style requirements of even the most pampered traveler. The eclectic fusion continues – the furnishing combines natural fabrics, wooden furniture and some contemporary elements like the water drop style of the lamps. Quite interesting is the wooden sitting construction adorning the walls, and it’s comfy upholstering.
