This Whirlpool integrated dishwasher is a nice clean appliance that responds to a common problem for people looking to design elegant kitchens: it is hard to strike a fine balance between usefulness and aesthetic design. Many appliances are very large and their bulk detracts from smooth lines in a well-designed room – a built in unit avoids this by seamless integrating into cabinets and reducing the profile of the appliance. To add to this further some people choose to put cabinet fronting on top of appliances (like in this case below). This costs a bit extra but really makes dishwashers and other practical items blend into the kitchen.
The unit pictured below also does well with colour. To fit a certain décor appliances need to be very clean and stick to shades, or metallic tones. This white colour would fit well with a modern theme, though it would look out of place in anything with much darker tones.
This Indesit model below is another take on this theme. The dishwasher is only semi-integrated and there are still visible controls on the panel. This is good from a practical perspective as you can easily adjust the dials and see the progress of the wash. This practicallity is a bit of a trade off as it is now clearly visible that this panel is a dishwasher – this appliance is likely to upset the décor of highly sophisticated kitchens, yet in most cases it shouldn’t prove to be an issue.
These pieces are an excellent addition to your kitchen. If you have spent a great deal of time designing a superb kitchen, it is upsetting if to disrupt the flow of the room with a chunky and unsightly appliance. By investing a bit of extra money into your appliances you will be able to have a seamless, well designed kitchen – otherwise you’ll end up spending a lot of money on design and still end up with a room that isn’t quite right. You can use this method to conceal more than just dishwashers, as its possible to have integrated bins, washing machines and any other appliances – this can make an enormous difference to the look and feel of your kitchen.
